During the 19th century Tor Bay as it was known then, began to develop into a fashionable seaside resort, initially frequented by members of the Royal Navy and as the town's fame spread, by Victorian society. With all the splendour and pomp, Torbay gained the name 'The English Riviera'.

Number 7 Fish Bistro
Number 7 Fish Bistro is Torbay's premier fish restaurant. Located at Beacon Terrace which overlooks Torquay Harbour. Number 7 Fish Bistro is very popular and holds several AA Rosette Awards and a 'trip advisor' certificate of excellence. We advise you to book early as Number 7 is very busy.

The Orange Tree Restaurant
The Orange Tree Restaurant is tucked away behind Torquay's,Torward Street on Parkhill Road. The Orange Tree is a very well established restaurant and has many awards and Rosetts to it name. The Orange tree is run by husband and wife whom appreciate good cuisine, comfort and hospitality.

Langtry's Restaurant is situated in The Osborne Hotel which is one of Torbay's finest hotels. The Osborne Hotel is set in an amazing regency crescent which overlooks meadfoot beach, and over the bay of Torbay, to Berry Head in Brixham. Langtry's restaurant is fine dining restaurant. Its romantic and grand setting lends itself to special occasions, a place to relax and enjoy great food in a spectacular place. Along with Langtrys, the Osborne hotel also owns The Brasserie and The Terrace, which are both worth a mention so we have listed them separately.

The Terrace is Torquay's finest alfresco dining venue. The Terrace is The Osborne Hotel's terrace restaurant. On a fine day their is no better place to eat in Torbay. A fantastic location surrounded by victoria opulence, with the stunning views of meadfoot beach and Torbay. The food at The Terrace is cooked fresh and barbequed food is its specialties The Osborne Hotel is my favourite hotel in Torquay. The Orestone Manor
The Orestone Manor is a boutique hotel and has established itself as a one of Torquay's fine dining restaurants. The Orestone Manor is just up the road from Lilycot holiday home in St. Marychurch and can easily be walked to via 'The South West Coast Path'. The Orestone Manor offers a fresh traditional English menu, with a twist of modern European influence and wherever possible their fresh vegetables are home grown in The Orestone Manor's kitchen garden. The views from The Orestone are also pretty spectacular.

The Elephant Restaurant
The Elephant is probably Torquay's most acclaimed fine dining restaurants and has several awards to its name, including a Michelin Star. The Elephant Restaurant promotes sustainable, locally sourced produce, and specialises in local fish from Brixham. The Elephant has two floors which includes a brasserie, bar and restaurant. Located on Torquay's harbourside the Elephant also enjoys the views across Torquay and the bay of Torbay.

The Church House Inn
The Church House Inn is a country pub but has won several awards for serving great food. The Church House Inn is a great country pub and even if your not fine dining, it's well worth a visit whilst your out and about exploring Torbay and Devon. The Church House Inn is located in Marldon which is just off the ring road on the way to Totnes.
