We're really spoilt for choice for great eating out establishments within easy walking distance from Lilycot holiday home.
As their are so many restaurants and cafe's to choose from, we have added some of our favourites we frequent and would recommend to our guests, and some which have been recommended to us by our friends.

    Memories Bistro

    Memories bistro is literally next door but one to Lilycot holiday cottage which is really handy. Memories bistro serves good honest food which is reasonably priced and great value for money. Memories bistro is only open on Friday and Saturday night and is always full, so we would suggest booking as early as possible to reserve you table.

    The Crown and Sceptre in just up the road from Lilycot. You will notice that this pub gets lots of mentions throughout Lilycot's website. The Crown is a proper pub and is our local. We often have lunch here as the food is all home made, very good and very reasonable. Food is available available at lunchtimes and they serve a traditional home made Sunday lunch.

    Driftwood Cafe is the closest cafe to Lilycot holiday cottage and ideal for a proper coffee in the morning, breakfast or lunches. Whilst staying at Lilycot you'll notice that they're are plenty cafe's to choose from in St. Marychurch precinct and they all have their specialties and menu's to suite everyone. Driftwood cafe is also licensed and runs special themed evening events and menu's through the year.

    The Bay Tree Cafe is one of our favourite cafe's in St. Marychurch. Located at the other end of St. Marychurch high street, past the post office and on the way to Babbacombe, which is only down the road from Lilycot. The Bay Tree cafe is a traditional reasonable priced cafe which specialises in great breakfasts and lunches.

    Three Degrees West Bar & Bistro is new to Babbacombe (2015) and has become an instant success story. With its classy surrounding and imaginative menu's, Three Degrees West was destined to succeed. Located right on the front at Oddicombe beach, the bistro enjoys spectacular views over Babbacombe Bay and Lyme Bay. For those not wishing to tackle the hill down to Oddicombe beach you could use the Babbacombe Cliff Railway.

    The Buccaneer is a pub with a difference. The Buccaneer hence the name, has a subtle pirate theme running throughout serves good beer, good food, and is good value for money. The burgers are very popular but you should check out their specials board which is always interesting. The Buccaneer is right on Babbacombe Downs and is fortunate to have a decked area at the front so its a great place to eat outside on a sunny day.

    Hanbury's is famous for fish and chips. Located in the centre of Babbacombe Hanbury's is a multi award winning fish & chip takeaway and restaurant. As a child I remember going to Hanbury's and some thirty odd years later, it hasn't changed much. A favourite pastime of mine is getting a bag of chips and walking up the road and eating them on Babbacombe Downs.

    The Thatched tavern is in Maidencombe which is on the outskirts of Torquay along the coast road to Shaldon. For the more adventurous, the Thatched Tavern is in walking distance from Lilycot holiday cottage along the South West Coast path. The Thatched Tavern serves traditional pub food with flair. On a sunny day the garden offers a great place to eat outside.

    The Kents is located in Wellswood, one of the leafy districts in Torquay. Wellswood still retains a little village feel with a local village school and row of shops. The Kents public house is right at the heart of Wellswood and has a busy vibrant atmosphere. The food is good and reasonable priced for the area and is purchased locally.

    The Terrace is part the Brasserie at the Osborne hotel. On a fine day and you want to eat out, in my opinion you can't beat the Terrace. The food is interesting and reasonable for where the Terrace is situated. The Osborne hotel is one of Torbay's finest hotels and to eat at the Terrace one can enjoy the atmosphere and the spectacular views over meadfoot beach and Torbay.

Pizza express is located right on the strand on Torquay's harbourside. It's an amazing venue and always busy and always full either at lunchtime or in the evening, so they must be doing something right!

    The Hole in the Wall is Torquay's oldest pub. Now a very popular pub and restaurant the Hole in the Wall serves great traditional and imaginative pub food. The pub still retains its oldie worldly feel and has a big local following. The Hole in the wall also has live entertainment on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

    Rochfish opened right on Torquay harbourside earlier this year (2014), and has been an instant success story. The first Rockfish opened in Dartmouth and now the Rockfish brand is being rolled out. The simple, contemporary, yet stylish restaurant theme and food is really well done. Rockfish is also licensed so you can drink a nice glass of Chablis with your fish and chips.

    Prezzo is another successful chain of restaurants which serves Italian cuisine. We have mentioned Prezzo Torquay because its a nice place to eat out. Located right on Torquay harbour side Prezzo has made the best of a converted Lloyds bank. Here you will see stamped in history the once opulence of Torquay in all its glory. The Cary Estate head office was also located next door.

    Located right on paignton seafront the Shoreline restaurant is fortunate to be actually perched above of the promenade, with Paignton harbour and the bay of Torbay as a back drop, the views are spectacular. The Shoreline serves bistro type cuisine with a contemporary style. Live music entertainment is also available at Shoreline.

    Eating out at The Churston Court hotel is an experience. The Churston manor as it's known locally is a twelfth century manor house. Today the Churston is owned by heritage hotels but they have done their best to maintain the style and feel of a manor house and all its splendour.

    When we're in Brixham we head to the Brixham Yacht club for lunch. Open to non members (sign the visitors book) their is no better place to eat in Brixham. Located right above Brixham harbour the yacht club serves good wholesome food at very reasonable prices. We normally get the ferry to Brixham from Torquay.

    The Berry Head hotel is an ideal place to eat lunch on a fine day, or for an evening drink to watch the sun go down, as the Berry Head hotel commands a fantastic location. Tucked under the famous land mark Berry Head, the Berry Head hotel looks out over the bay of Torbay and beyond. If your at a loose end and you fancy a traditional Sunday lunch with all the trimmings then the Berry head is on the menu as a place to visit, especially is you get to Brixham by the ferry from Torquay.

    We've listed the Riverford Field Kitchen Restaurant because we love going their and we would highly recommend it for eating out. At Riverford Field Kitchen they run a set menu and allocate sitting times so booking your table is also essential. We're lucky as Rachel's parents frequent Dartmouth and every time they visit they spoil us by tacking us to Riverford kitchen. We discovered Riverford kitchen because we buy an organic veg box every week from Riverford Farm.
